In cooperation with Oslo Freedom Forum, Civita invites you to a breakfast meeting Tuesday May 23rd 8.00 -9.15 am.

The election of Donald Trump and the rise of populism has generated a renewed discussion about democratic stability in Europe and the US. Is liberal democracy under threat? What role does Russia play? And how can supporters of free and open societies secure a democratic future?

Speaker: Anne Applebaum is author of the bestselling books Gulag: A history and Iron Curtain:The Crushing of Eastern Europe, 1944-1956. She is also a columnist for the Washington Post and a visiting professor at the London School of Economics.

A Q&A session will follow after the introductions.

Doors open 7.15 am. Breakfast is served from 7.45 am.

The meeting will take place at Café Christiania, Nedre Vollgt. 19. Entrance via Stortingsgaten.
