The Case Against Education

Publisert: 20. august 2018

Civita breakfast, in cooperation with the University of Oslo, Monday August 20th, 8.00-9.00 am.

Most politicians emphasize the virtues of higher education. However, does higher education actually impart critical knowledge and skills, or are we spending hundreds of billions of dollars annually to offer nothing more than an expensive signaling device? Is the education system mostly a waste of time and money or is accessible higher education critical to secure opportunities for all?

Panelists were:

Bryan Caplan, professor of economics at George Mason University, research fellow at the Mercatus Center and adjunct scholar at the Cato Institute

Edwin Leuven,  professor of economics at University of Oslo.
