Can commercial investments help accelerate development in poor countries? How and when should the private sector invest more – and what role can Governments like Norway play to support this agenda? How can foreign direct investments complement traditional aid, and what role should NGOs play? The new government is contemplating how to create a new investment program within the mandate of the sovereign wealth fund (SPU), which is able to invest in sustainable companies and projects in emerging markets, securing returns for both Norway and the developing world. – What structures can be put in place to ensure maximum impact on both ends of the investments?
